Every girl loves a good makeover! Even us busy mommy’s need some time to paint our faces so we can look nothing like our “normal” selves! Or go meet up with some other mom friends and get pedi’s and grab lunch! Just a few hours out with the girls and you feel fresh and renewed and RELAXED!
Females aren’t the only things needing makeovers! (Nooo, I’m not talking about our husbands with the wayward eyebrow hairs or the springy ear hair that developed overnight 🤪). Now that we have to be overly cautious of being around others, some of us don’t feel safe going out and about to nail salons and all the eateries, we have to get creative.
How about, a “time-out” for Mommy where she can relax without kids pestering her (too much) AND give something a makeover.
This is how I spent my Monday because my husband took off work.
When we moved into our house, there were some terra-cotta pots lying around. This one had soil in it still, but I just dumped it into my outside compost bin since goodness knows how long it’s been there and WHAT was in there.
Cracked. Mildew. Stanky.
First I got some Dawn and a sponge and scrubbed it and sprayed it with the water hose. That did almost nothing. So then I grabbed my, almost as rare and expensive as gold, Clorox Spray! I just sprayed it a couple times and used that same sponge and put some elbow grease on there, and she finally cleaned up pretty well!
I’m not new to cleaning (remember: 2 kids!) but I am new to painting. I’m not very good at it. But I dont care! I took my supplies to the back deck, cranked up some random Christian playlist on Spotify and sang and painted. Holy cow that was the best couple hours I have spent in a long time!
Instead of just trashing this cracked planter, I glued the crack up the best that I could, and painted her to give her a new life!!
I still have some (a lot) of finishing touches to add to her, but she’s still pretty cute! Once it cools off here, I’m going to transplant my mint into this pot and bring it inside 😍😍
This week I challenge you to look around at something broken or no longer useful as it’s intended purpose, and upcycle/recycle or makeover it!!! Reducing waste and saving dollars is ALWAYS a good thing!
