The main character of a show, movie or book is almost always your FAVORITE character, right? Well, like 98% of the time they are; just go with me here.
I’ve been listening to a podcast going through Genesis. It’s been really interesting to hear other’s perspective of the scriptures!
The Bible!! I know we have all heard of it even if we haven’t all read it. While multiple people wrote down the words, the words were given to them by ONE author.
Do you know that main author? His name is GOD!
Genesis means “Beginning.” This is the first book of the Bible.
The first sentence of the entire Bible is “In the beginning, GOD created….”
We are going to stop right there; this is a LOT to chew on.
Creation is just a mind-blowing subject. It REALLY hurts my brain. Instead of focusing on the actual beginning and how God could just “be” and all of that, I want to focus on a different perspective today.
At the beginning of our world, our solar system, our trees and plants… when God created, He already knew how it was all going to play out. 🤯
Have you ever started reading a book or watching a movie and halfway through you just KNOW how it is going to end. You’ll blurt out, “I’VE GOT IT FIGURED OUT!” or “It was Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Candlestick!!” 🤣😂🤪
That’s kinda how it is for God. He just KNOWS things; even before we were born, He KNEW the things in this world we’re going to happen. He’s super smart like that!
This is HIS world. The Bible is HIS book. HE is the main character.
Okay, what does this have to do with mental health, you ask?!
This: we are trying to steal the role of the main character. That is GOD’s title. He is the only main character.
He earned that script, so we need to fall back and let Him have the lead.
It’s a hard pill to swallow. This world is very much about “me, me, me, me, me.”
The problem with this world is how enabled and entitled people are. We want something and we want it NOW and it has to be MY WAY or the highway. Humans are selfish by nature.
Thank GOD that GOD doesn’t treat US like that. He isn’t snapping His fingers at us, commanding us to do things. He did give us the gift of free will. BUT, when we recognize and acknowledge the fact that HE is the main character; that HE is running this show. It can take the anxiety and depression down a notch, perhaps even take it away. 🤷🏻♀️
Just focus on Him.
He is our provider and protector. He loves us and yearns for us to love Him back!
We all know how the story ends. Do you want to follow the Main Character’s lead so He can pave the way for you? Or would you rather cut your own trail and get burned and scratched again and again?
I’d be interested to hear what your thoughts are on this!!
Blessings and Love,
